In their second week, the new Master of Land Economy students went on a field trip to Finzean Estate hosted by Andrew Farquharson. After a warm welcome in the Finzean Tearoom, the students were shown around the estate. Andrew explained the challenges of estate management, ranging from volatile market prices for the homegrown beef and cereal, to the new legislation requiring improvement to the energy efficiency of existing housing stock. A second stop took the group to Tarland, where Steff Ferguson highlighted a number of farm biodiversity and water quality measures that had been implemented on MacRobert Estate.
