From the 12th-17th of June, Dr Tavis Potts (Geosciences) and Dr Daryl Burdon (IECS, U. Hull) held a series of workshops and engagements in Xiamen, China with partners from the University of Xiamen, Coastal and Ocean Management Institute. The workshops progressed a comparative analysis of assessing and mapping the ecosystem services that emerge from marine protected areas in the UK and China. A highlight of the research exchange was a workshop with the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum Marine Sustainable Development Centre in Xiamen. The workshop and exchange was generously funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Natural Science Funding Council of China.
