Andrew Maclaren, a PhD student jointly funded by the University of Aberdeen and the James Hutton Institute, attended the American Association of Geographers (AAG) conference, held in Boston, USA in April 2017, an annual event that attracts 9,000 delegates from across the world. Andrew presented his doctoral research on ‘More-than-Representational Knowledges of Rural Ageing’ at the conference session ‘New Voices in Rural Geography’. Andrew was subsequently named the winner of the Student Paper Competition by the AAG’s Rural Geography Specialty Group.
