Please join us for a research seminar given by Dr. Gareth Johnson of the University of Edinburgh on “Security of CO2 Storage: The Relative Role of Trapping Mechanisms”. All are welcome to attend.
Abstract: A critical aspect of Carbon Capture and Storage is ensuring the security of stored CO2 injected into subsurface reservoirs. This requires a thorough understanding of the physical and chemical behaviour of CO2 once injected and how various trapping mechanisms may operate in both spatial and temporal scales. Here, I present findings from a combination of natural analogue, laboratory and field scale studies that demonstrate and attempt to quantify the different trapping mechanisms that take place.
