This symposium will consider matters across the wide spectrum of practice areas that land law reform touches on, including matters as diverse as succession law and planning law.

The session will be chaired by Malcolm Combe from the University of Aberdeen, an adviser to the LRRG appointed in June 2013. Confirmed speakers include Professor Roderick Paisley of the University of Aberdeen, who will consider the Report’s proposals for the law of succession, and Robert Sutherland of Terra Firma Chambers, who will be addressing the issues of “ownerless land” and “common good land” identified by the LRRG. Alasdair Sutherland, advocate, will address planning law concerns and Michael P G Smith will be consider the proposed upper limit on landownership.

The event will be followed by a short reception sponsored by Terra Firma Chambers.
