The Centre for Transport Research invites you to attend a CTR seminar presented by Prof Corinne Mulley, Professor Emirita, ITLS, University of Sydney Business School and Honorary Professor, University of Aberdeen on What do we know about value uplift following public transport investment? How research can inform policy on likely uplift: the case of Australia.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday 6th November at 10:30 am in Room 185 of the Fraser Noble Building, University of Aberdeen. All are welcome to attend.

Abstract:  Funding new transport infrastructure is one of the greatest challenges facing governments the world over. New public transport infrastructure in particular is expensive but a necessary investment if cities are to be sustainable into the future. New transport infrastructure is designed to improve access and this improved access is reflected in land values – and is what is called value uplift. Knowing how much land uplifts is a pre-requisite to value capture or value sharing policies which aim to capture or share the uplift between the beneficiaries of the uplift and the government funding the new infrastructure. This seminar reviews worldwide evidence in relation to uplift following public transport investment and compares this to known uplift, by different public transport modes, in Australia as a way of seeing how research can inform current debate.
