The Nunivak Island Archaeological Project
Overview

This project will be taking place at Nash Harbor, Alaska, an abandoned Cu'pig Eskimo settlement that is now the scene of an annual summer science camp.

It is being run in close cooperation with the Cu'pig Eskimo community of Mekoryuk and the Nunivak Island Mekoryuk Alaska (NIMA) corporation. We will be conducting test excavations on c.3,000 year old village deposits at the site as well as surveying the local landscape and documenting the abundant archaeological features known to exist in the area.

The project is directed by Dr Rick Knecht.
