Now half way through a Leverhulme Research Fellowship, Aberdeen's Caroline Wickham-Jones is making waves in the world of prehistoric archaeology.
Lecturer Caroline Wickham-Jones is half way through a Leverhulme Research Fellowship. She has been working with data relating to the submerged landscape around Orkney in order to provide information relating to the early population of the islands. When people first arrived in Orkney some 10,000 years ago lower sea-levels meant that they encountered a very different place to the islands of today. By reconstructing the detail of the islands it is possible to consider the experience of those first settlers as they moved in to a new land and, over the next millennia, as they came to terms with rising sea-levels and a changing world.
