This short online course provides an introductory overview of renewable energy development in the UK (with a focus on hydrogen) and the measures the UK government is putting in place to support the industry. Study this short course in your own time and at your own pace over the period of around 1 month with the option to attend 3 live sessions either online or in-person.
There is also the option to join practical sessions hosted by Hydrasun. The Hydrasun Hydrogen Refuelling System Short Course provides a high-level overview of hydrogen refuelling systems, focusing on their technical and safety considerations, using the BP Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub as a case study. It includes practical hands-on activities to give delegates real-world experience in operating and understanding these advances energy systems. This course is delivered at the first of a kind Hydrasun Hydrogen Skills Academy in Aberdeen.

Alfonso is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He is the author of 48 peer-reviewed research papers, as well as the senior advisor of the PrototAU student engineering team and hydrogen champion at the Centre for Energy Transition and a vocal promoter of new and cleaner technologies.
Alfonso is also a Board member of the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group.

Megan Hine has worked for Draeger for 6 years, specialising in fixed gas detection, particularly in the energy industry. Alongside her technical background in gas detection, she has participated in the DNV Expert Hazard Awareness Course, witnessing hydrocarbon and hydrogen fires and detonations. She has spoken at TEDx Dundee in 2016 and is a regular guest speaker at the University of Aberdeen on “Gas safety for the energy transition” and “Hydrogen gas safety” as part of the Renewable Energy Engineering MSc. Draeger are a long established safety company with decades of experience in detecting both hydrogen and hydrocarbon flammable gases.


Jemma Reynolds, Hydrogen Sales and Marketing Analyst at Hydrasun. Jemma supports the Hydrasun Hydrogen Skills Academy with the development of training courses, technology understanding and stakeholder engagement, helping to bring the hydrogen technology to life. Jemma has an academic background spending the first part of her career as a Hydrogen Researcher at the National Subsea Centre. Jemma is a Women's Engineering Society Ambassador for Women in Engineering and is also part of the Women in Hydrogen Scotland Group committee.
