Writing Henry James

Writing Henry James
-

This is a past event

This public event explores how Henry James' fingerprints can still be found in the work of contemporary novelists.

Henry James has a reputation as a difficult and obscure author, but he developed many of the techniques and approaches used by modern writers. This public event is part of the Henry James Society's sixth international conference, The Real Thing .

At 4.00pm, acclaimed novelist Tessa Hadley gives a talk Story and Character in The Golden Bowl, which explores how these very basic elements of fiction still matter today.

At 5.30pm, in A Writer's Writer: Henry James Among the Novelists, three international novelists, Philip Hensher, Lynne Alexander and Michiel Heyns, discuss the impact of James work on modern-day fiction, including their own.

Wine reception included. Bookstall. Tickets £5.
