Energy policy, public risk perceptions and acceptability will be some of the topics discussed at this interactive event, which is part of the University of Aberdeen Energy Controversies lecture series and is in association with Techfest.

Today, we rely on nuclear power to provide a sizable proportion of our total electricity supply. In Scotland, the Government has committed to a nuclear-free energy supply future. Much of the background to the nuclear debate has centred around public opinion. So what do you really think?

Come and discover some of the reasons for the shift in government policy and public attitude to nuclear power in Britain over the past 10 years. This lecture will shed light on some of the major surveys on this topic and offer the audience a chance to contribute to the debate.

Professor Pidgeon is a leading expert on the public perception of risk across a whole range of areas including climate change and energy supply. He is a member of the UK Department for Energy and Climate Change's Science Advisory Group.

This promises to be a fascinating event, dealing with a highly topical issue and a chance to interact with one of the UK's leading experts in the field.
