From Ancient Athens to Old Aberdeen: artists and archaeologists, travellers and tourists in the nineteenth century
In this series, Professor Mary Beard, a leading scholar of Classics, explores the changing engagement with classical and art of different social groups and classes of nineteenth century society.
Mary Beard is Professor of Classics at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Newham College, Cambridge and of the Royal Society of Arts.
The 2009 Geddes-Harrower lecture series "From Ancient Athens to Old Aberdeen: artists and archaeologists, travellers and tourists" will bring a modern perspective to this subject of classical art and antiquities.
The final lecture on 24 November will be followed by a drinks reception in James McKay Hall, King's College Conference Centre.
