Welcome to this read-aloud session on Nordic Literature. Apart from hearing a story in English, for comparison we will also hear a shorter section read out in Doric and a variety of Nordic languages, such as Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish.
This read-aloud event celebrates Nordic Literature - with a North-East Scotland twist! We will hear about the renowned Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's much-loved character Emil and his adventures in the early 20th century Swedish countryside, when Emil invites the whole poorhouse to a party and also finds a catch in his wolf trap. We will hear the story in English, and for comparison will also hear a shorter section read out in Doric and a variety of Nordic languages, such as Swedish, Norwegian and Danish. The event relates to the Nordic Literature Week, during which the same chosen text is read aloud at events across the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as in Nordic institutions around the world.All are most welcome to attend.
