'Identity and Myth of the Spanish Folklorica in Art and Visual Culture', Dr Barbara Barreiro Leon (Aberdeen)
This seminar will explore the visual and artistic representations of the folklorica as the embodiment of the Spanish female figure during the 20th century and how this character has evolved since then.
Barbara Barreiro Leon has a PhD in History of Art and is a Lecturer in Film and Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen where she also teaches in the Spanish and Latin American Studies Department. Her research explores cultural identities in visual culture, film and wider media. She has published books on identity, heritage, and visual culture. She has also published in various peer-reviewed scientific journals as well as participated in international conferences.
