Sarah Hiepler's PhD research examines how death and the dead are displayed in university museums in the UK that publicly exhibit anthropological and or archaeological collections. Their fieldwork consisted of interviews with museum staff and short-term field visits to multiple museums around the UK, including the University of Glasgow's Hunterian Museum, the University of Liverpool's Garstang Museum, University College London's Petrie Museum and University of Oxford's Pitt Rivers and Ashmolean Museums, to name a few.
