You are warmly invited to join us for an Extraordinary Burns Supper on Monday 25 January from 7.30pm-8.30pm (GMT).
This wonderful virtual celebration of Robert Burns presented by singer Fiona Kennedy features a splendid compilation of performances and readings, all recorded at home, individually by students, staff, alumni and very special guests including Chancellor of the University HRH The Duchess of Rothesay. The event will also feature alumnus Iain Glen, alumna Laura Main, actor John Bett, and Craig Wilson, 'The Kilted Chef'. We will also hear the fabulous voices of students and alumni including Iona Rae and Peter MacPherson as well as a fantastic father-daughter performance from George and Georgia-May Drennan. The haggis will be addressed by Mark Stephen and Norman Fiddes will feature on bagpipes. A toast to Robert Burns will be made by Jim Brown MBE and there will be reflections on Aberdeen from Professor James N'Dow. The evening will also feature songs from the chart-topping CD 'Immortal Memory' recorded by The University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir conducted by Professor Paul Mealor as well as a piece on saxophone from alumnus Matthew Kilner. We hope that you'll join us so we can all watch the premiere together!
As with our other events, this evening is free to join but we are currently raising funds to support students facing financial hardship as a result of Covid-19. If you would like to find out more about our Covid-19 525 Bursary Fund and make a donation please click here.
Online registrations have now closed. If you would like to attend this event please email us on alumni@abdn.ac.uk and we will register you.
This recording will also be available to view afterwards if you are not able to join us.
