Please join us for a talk from David Craig, who will be speaking on The Role of Local Food at the next presentation for the Green Economy Research Centre (GERC) seminar series. The talk will be held on 20th June at noon in St Mary’s room G3.
In his presentation, David will provide an overview of the food retail dynamics which are impacting local food systems. He will explore identified food mega-trends and will consider the role of local food within these, including as a part of identity formation. David will also consider the evolving needs of different generations of consumers, and how food retailers are adapting their offerings to suit.

Bio: David Craig is a marketing consultant with Levercliff Associates, advising some of Scotland’s highest profile food and drink companies on marketing strategies. Working in partnership with government agencies (including Scottish Enterprise and Scotland Food & Drink), David helps companies identify strategies for growing businesses in a highly competitive environment. Most recently, David is leading the Asda Supplier Academy, which is helping 45 food and drink companies across Scotland and Northern Ireland develop stronger relationships with Asda, supplying local and regional produce.
David holds a First Class BA(Hons) in Food Product Design with Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, and a MSC with Distinction in Gastronomy from Queen Margaret University. He was also a finalist for a Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award for his work with former company, Clyde Valley Tomatoes, and has worked for companies including Whole Foods Market and Baxters Food Group.
