Generic kernels for modules of constant Jordan type.
Let E be an elementary abelian p-group of rank 2 and k an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. In this talk I will discuss the generic kernel of a kE-module M, which is a canonically defined submodule of M having some rather nice properties. I shall focus mainly on the case in which M has constant Jordan type; in particular, I will answer a question of Carlson, Friedlander and Suslin regarding whether or not certain module structures associated to the generic kernel have constant Jordan type.
