The workshop will explore the skills needs and deficits around data, digital health and techno-literacy.
During this event we will explore your thoughts and opinions about un-met needs concerning digital literacy in healthcare and use specific examples to allow you to get a taste of what it means to actively collaborate in the co-design and co-development of educational resources for enhancing skills and understanding in digital healthcare.
Feedback from government, business, students, clinicians, patients and carers suggests a need for a stronger grounding in digital technology from design, data generation and curation, to data analysis and action, as well as awareness of artificial intelligence. The aim is to identify a small piece of this technological and educational challenge and to utilize a “participants as partners” approach in the design, development and delivery of a minimal viable product (MVP) that will enhance understanding and skills for “participants in need”.
By hosting a workshop style event it will allow us to better identify and share our real pains in terms of digital literacy and prioritise themes/areas for improvement. We can then actively engage in collaboration to sketch and story board possible educational products that address our needs. This approach will also be shaped by the gains we envisage our product will bring whether in terms of understanding, confidence, or even employment development.
We’ll use a “flipped” classroom approach and provide all participants with access to a cloud-based learning platform so that you can engage with background materials prior to the workshop and beyond, if you want to use the same platform for some of their collaborative co-design through active learning. TWe also hope to identify and create networks for further development of the product with the aim of tools for undergraduates, postgraduates, professionals and the wider public to enhance and strengthen their skills and understanding in digital healthcare.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a partnership of undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals in health and social care to voice their opinions in collaboration with the people at the centre of healthcare – the users of services and their families and carers.
This person-centered approach, embedded in healthcare improvement and precision medicine, will allow us to identify real needs and therefore focus on themes that could provide substantive gains in understanding and skills.
The workshop will be co-facilitated by Aberdeen and Robert Gordon Universities, alongside Open Data Institute collaborators.
