Second Generation DVB Interactive Satellite System Offers Substantial Improvements at all Levels.
In March 2011, the Digital Video Broadcast Project approved the first two of three DVB-RCS2 specifications for the 2nd generation DVB interactive satellite system. Working with the Eurpoean Space Agency
(ESA) and Thales-Alenia Space, Aberdeen University lead the activity to develop a new architecture and state-of-the-art Internet protocol mechanisms. DVB-RCS2 provides the only open multivendor platform for interactive services with unmatched flexibility and performance; enhanced security; improved Quality of Service system architecture; and support for IP version 6.
