Petroleum engineering students at the University of Aberdeen are set to benefit from the donation of new software worth over £1m.
The Integrated Production Modelling software (IPM) tool – worth £1,399,965.85 – has been donated by Petroleum Experts (PETEX), a petroleum engineering company that has developed a set of engineering software designed to improve the efficiency of oil and gas fields.
Professor Igor Guz, Head of the School of Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, said: “The IPM tool is a leading fully integrated reservoir, well, surface network modelling and production optimisation system, which will enhance our students’ experience and improve opportunities in a competitive job market.
“The University works closely with industry to ensure that our programmes benefit from the latest expertise and technical support, and we are grateful to Petroleum Experts for this valuable donation.”
