Naomi Patterson

Naomi graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2012, with an MEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering with European Studies. She is currently studying for a PhD in Engineering which focuses on the operational energy efficiency of concrete block products. Her work includes the measurement and theoretical modelling of the thermal properties of novel cement materials, and the development of concrete blocks for improved thermal efficiency.

Theodore Hanein

Theo graduated from the University of Balamand with a BSc in Chemistry (2010) and a BSc in Chemical Engineering (2011). He then went on the graduate from the University of Manchester in 2012 with an MSc in Refinery Design and Operation (Advanced Process Design) . He is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Aberdeen in the formulation and production of novel inorganic cements. His research interests include thermodynamic and heat transfer modelling, and heat exchanger network design.

Hoda Beltagui

Hoda graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2012, with an MEng in Structural and Architectural Engineering. She is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Aberdeen as part of a wider research group; the Green Concrete Project. Her research interests include the durability of cement and concrete in marine environments. She is also currently the Engineering postgraduate research student representative.

Frank Birse

Frank graduated in July 2012 with a MEng (1st Class Honours) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen then worked as a Graduate Process Engineer at Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants between September 2012 and Aug 2013 before beginning his PhD, which focuses on the development of a novel continuous anode for a molten carbonate Direct Carbon Fuel Cell (DCFC).
