Talk on Nonlinear Normal Modes of a Self-Excited System Driven by Parametric and External Excitations

Vibrations of nonlinear coupled parametrically and self-excited oscillators driven by an external harmonic force is presented in the talk. It is shown that if small external force excites the system then, around the principal parametric resonance, an internal loop occurs. By Nonlinear Normal Modes (NNMs) application, the problem of coupled oscillators is reduced to separated one degree of freedom systems. The NNMs are formulated as functions of amplitude on the basis of free vibrations of a nonlinear conservative system. The analytical results are validated by numerical simulations and an essential difference between linear and nonlinear modes is shown.
