SD Oscillators: Current State and Future Research Prospects

SD oscillator was first proposed duringĀ  my stay the University of Aberdeen, when I was undertaking a collaborative research with Professor Wiercigroch. This is a brand new nonlinear oscillator, in some ways similar to the archetypal ones including Duffing and Lorenz.

SD oscillator exhibits both smooth and discontinuous dynamics depending on the value of its smoothness parameter. In this presentation, the following aspects about these oscillators would be briefly discussed:

- SD oscillator: standard and non standard dynamics

- strange attractor and the co-dimension two bifurcation

- SD oscillator with friction and impacts

- experimental investigations of a simple SD oscillator

- applications of SD oscillators
