Demonstration of Aberdeen Power System Group DC grid.

Abstract

The Power system group at Aberdeen has built a DC grid demonstrator consisting of 4-converter rated 30kW each. The DC grid has two DC voltage levels: 900V and 200V and uses DC/DC converters to exchange power between these levels. The grid is designed to operate through DC faults and we will demonstrate 900 and 200V DC faults at full power and the fault clearing action by DC/DC converters. The DC grid power control as well as fast power reversal through DC/DC converters will be shown. Some aspects of high-power, high frequency DC/DC converters will be addressed.
