At a Glance
Most of what we do is bespoke to particular projects or current research interests in response to people getting in touch. However we understand the value of easy-to-access opportunities and below you will find a snapshot of annual initiatives we've put into place to help staff and students get involved. Many are coupled to professional development modules, listed further down, encouraging a skills-through-practice approach to public engagement.
PERU-led Annual Opportunities to Engage
- Community cafe programme including Cafe Scientifique, Cafe Med, Cafe Arts, Cafe Philosophique and Cafe Connect - an online podcast format which embraces all academic disciplines.

Annual engagement incentives and initiatives
- Principal's Prize for Public Engagement with Research (nominated or self-nominated prize scheme with early career and senior categories)
- Three Minute Thesis(competition with mentoring and support)
- Famelab (science communication competition with mentoring and support)
Training and Development (in association with the University's Researcher Development)
- Public Engagement introductory module (particularly for new staff/students, highlights the PE landscape in Aberdeen and the benefits of getting involved)
- Funded Opportunities (offered when appropriate to highlight the funded opportunities we have for engagement activities)
