On the 28th o March, 2018, we will launch a North-East Scots Language Board (NESLB).
The Board is an ambitious, pooerfu grouping that will heize up Scots tae its richtfu place alangside English as the language o the North-East. We will promote the leid in airts far is has aften been excludit, sic as in oor civil life, in the media an in education, aawye between the Silvery Tay and the Moray Firth.
Tae merk the occasion we wad like ane o oor North-East poets tae produce an inaugural poem. We are inviting ye tae submit a new poem that celebrates the North-East Scots tongue, the uniqueness of the culture, the people or landscape, or is itherwise suitable for the prestigious launch o this important new body.
The winning submission will be in ane o the dialect o North-East Scots, an will be read oot at the launch, an the poet awarded £50.
The submissions must be received by the 20th of March, and can be sent to northeastculture@abdn.ac.uk. They will be judged by the executive group o the North-East Scots Language Board.
