Aberdeen City Council Civic Reception

The Lord Provost, David Cameron, of Aberdeen City Council hosted a Civic Reception at Aberdeen City Council Town House on Wednesday, 22 January to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Elphinstone Institute, with staff, students and friends.

The Lord Provost welcomed everyone and praised the Institute's work over the past 30 years. Director of the Elphinstone Institute, Dr Thomas McKean gave a talk highlighting many achievements by the Institute over the years. North-East Makar, Sheena Blackhall, recited a specially dedicated poem, and we had outstanding musical performances from Owen and Rueben of SC&T Youth who played traditional tunes to the delight of all who attended.

We thank the Lord Provost for honouring the Elphinstone Institute in its 30th anniversary year, and we were pleased to share the evening celebration with over 100 invited guests. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the success of the Institute over the past 30 years, especially the Friends of the Elphinstone Institute.
