Hałat Duo are the supremely talented musicians Aleksandra Hałat (piano) and Marcin Hałat (violin). Inside the ancient and beautiful walls of King’s College Chapel, they will perform the music of Polish composers R. Ryterband, J. Fitelberg, T. Z. Kassern, A. Robak, and M. Granat, with some pieces having their premiere on the evening. We are thrilled to support Polish Association Aberdeen in its efforts to show off Polish culture in all its guises across the Granite City.
Aleksandra Hałat, University of Silesia, is a pianist, chamber musician, researcher, and educator. She says, ‘Classical music, especially chamber music, is my great passion. For me, it is a space for research and artistic experiments as well as research projects. I believe that classical music can only inspire by arousing new ideas, destroying patterns, creating a new vision of a better world. My numerous concert presentations include a wide repertoire for piano duo for four hands, for two pianos, for violin and piano, for piano trio, quartet, quintet and sextet, as well as voice and piano’.
Marcin Hałat is a violinist, improviser, composer, and is described as an artist revealing a new world of the violin. His work is a synergy of two musical worlds – of jazz and classical music – which constantly interpenetrate and correlate with each other, revealing an artist who cannot be categorized in any of them. In his compositions, Marcin Hałat combines a vision of contemporary music with elements of jazz and improvised music.
