Hungeret, wi sleep in their een
Wytin by the shop
While ithers daunce an hop.

'Buy me a sweetie,' I say tae ma brither.
We hinna got ony money.
We wauk back tae mam,
Tae ask, 'Can we get a penny?'
'No, ye canna.
Ging an ask Lenny yer uncle.'

Waukin doon the street again
Lookin fur a penny
Nae luck the day
Let's try anither day.
