As part of the Aberdeen Centre for Health Data Sciences (ACHDS) Seminar SeriesDr. Jerry Sigudla PhD Mpumalanga Department of Health, SOUTH AFRICA and Maria van der Merwe MNutrition Consultant, SOUTH AFRICA gave a presentation titled 'Expanding evidence-based decision-making: grounding policy and strategy in evidence and partnerships'.
Of approximately 1.5 million peer-reviewed articles (2017), 85% are not cited. Potentially world-changing ideas are not getting into public domain. This talk will focus on research, systems and policy partnerships for evidence-based decision-making in health systems.
Jerry Sigudla is the Director of Research, Mpumalanga Department of Health, developed a whole-system model of research uptake in practice and policy development, in support of development of departmental strategy.
Maria van der Merwe is a Consultant and health policy in systems researcher with extensive senior management experience in South Africa's public health sector.
