Abstract
As explorations and examples of how educational/applied theatre and contemporary theatre can support each other, some vignettes of practices are shared here in this article. These include five experimental vignettes from the author’s actual practices (one as a theatre trainer, one as a drama educator, one as a drama therapist, and the last two as a trainer for creative arts therapists). These vignettes were developed in response to the pervailing situation in which educational/applied theatre and contemporary theatre art mostly consider themselves two distinct, independent fields with unrelated purposes. Contrary to this belief, the author explores practically how this seperation can be overcome. This complements his theoretical work, also available in this special issue, which clarifies the convergence of development of these two fields, their intersection points, and their common ground in terms of convention and its relationship to both theatre and life.
