World Population Day
This is a past event
World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11 every year, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.
An annual event that marks the date when the world's population reached 5 billion (11 July 1987). There are now 7 billion people in the world, and there will probably be 8 billion by 2030.
There's a different theme each year - the theme for 2014 was Investing in Young People. For background information and details of the theme, visit the UN Population Fund's World Population Day website.
