The Global Platform gathers together the world's disaster risk community from Governments, parliamentarians, mayors, international and intergovernmental organizations, NGOs, local community representatives, scientific and academic institutions and private businesses. The Global Platform continues to shape the future of disaster risk reduction and provides fresh perspectives to how we can collectively build the resilience of communities and nations to disasters. New partnerships and alliances for risk reduction will be forged. Progress will be discussed and debated. Experiences, innovations and practices will be shared.
This session of the Global Platform holds special significance as an opportunity to further consult on a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction. The outcome document, the Chair’s Summary, will reflect partners’ common priorities and directions in disaster risk reduction and building resilience as we head towards 2015.
