The Rev Scott Brown, the Chaplain of the Fleet for the Royal Navy is among those recognised in the New Year Honours lists.
Rev Brown was appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE). Born in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Rev Brown was educated at Hamilton Grammar School, Bell College of Technology and the University of Aberdeen, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1992. He joined the Royal Navy in 1993 and has served in a variety of sea-going and shore appointments. He was made an Honorary Chaplain to HM the Queen in 2007 and promoted to be the Navy's senior Chaplain, the Chaplain of the Fleet, in November 2010. Rev Brown said: “I have been supported through my ministry by my civil partner, Mr Colin Fleming, to whom I am very grateful for his love and support.”
