Policy Resources
A key aim of the CEFAW project was to produce a policy framework document that churches and other Christian organizations could use to inform their policy in relation to animal farming such as in their roles as purchasers and consumers of animal products, retailers of animal products, and investors in companies producing and selling animal products.
The report ‘The Christian Ethics of Farmed Animal Welfare: A Policy Framework for Churches and Christian Organizations’ is a 60 page illustrated report summarising the project’s findings. It is freely available for download in PDF format . A limited number of free print copies are also available: contact cefaw@abdn.ac.uk if you would like to request one.
The report is in four parts:
- Why farmed animal welfare should matter to Christians
- Key features of a Christian ethics of farmed animal welfare
- A Christian ethical evaluation of current UK systems of farming animals
- Conclusions and recommendations for policy and practice
