Max McAllan (BDS3) attended the INSPIRE Conference 2024. At the conference, he presented his summer scholarship research and received the prize for the best oral presentation.
Speaking on this he told us: “I was honoured to be invited to present my summer research project at the Academy of Medical Sciences Scottish INSPIRE conference hosted by the University of Edinburgh. The conference included representatives from seven medical, veterinary and dental schools across five Scottish universities and was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about clinical academia.
My presentation entitled “Quantification of PDL-1 in normal, premalignant, and malignant oral and oropharyngeal tissues using image analysis” which I completed under the supervision of Dr Rasha Abu-Eid after securing an Aberdeen Summer Research Scholarship (ASRS) was well received and earned me an award for best oral presentation.
I'm thrilled to have received this recognition and honoured to represent the University and the Institute of Dentistry nationally. I truly appreciate support and guidance of Dr Abu-Eid and as well as all those involved in the ASRS and INSPIRE programmes.”
Many congratulations to Max on this amazing achievement!
