Dr Nadisha Piyarathne, who successfully defended her PhD thesis titled "Salivary Biomarkers and Risk Factors in Oral Cancer and Oral Potentially Malignant Disorders", attended graduation on 24th Thursday, November 2022 at the P&J Arena in Aberdeen.
Nadisha conducted her studies at the Institute of Dentistry and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Srilanka. She was supervised by Professor Jaya Jayasinghe as the principal supervisor and Drs. Rasha Abu Eid and Ekta Gupta as Co-Supervisors.
We congratulate Nadisha for her achievements despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic. She was unable to return to Aberdeen to complete her research during her final year but managed to complete her lab work at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Under the supervision of Professor Manjula Weerasekera. The Institute greatly appreciate and thank Professor Weerasekera and Professor Surangi Yasawardena, former Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences for their facilitation and support for Nadisha’s studies.

A few more papers will be forthcoming with one already submitted to a Journal. Dr Nadisha Piyarathne is currently employed as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Srilanka. We wish Nadisha all the success in her future academic career.
