EDSA Student Representative, Vlad-Costin Iliescu, has had a busy summer joining events with the European Dental Students' Association.
Now entering his final year on the BDS Dentistry programme, Vlad journeyed to both Dubrovnik in Croatia and Palma de Mallocora to take part in events with the Association during the summer break.
Between 7th and 13th of August he attended the EDSA Summer Camp in Dubrovnik. Vlad said "It was a perfect week that combined education and leisure. It was a great opportunity to meet other dental students from across Europe and different universities."
Any dental student can apply for these opportunities. The next European Visiting Programme will take place in Chisinau – Republic of Moldova between 23rd and 29th of October 2022.
Then it was on to Palma de Mallorca between 21st and 27th of August where Vlad attended the 70th EDSA meeting as a student representative as part of the UK delegation. The programme consisted of lectures, workshops and lecture competitions for dental students. There were a lot of discussions around topics such as Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion; Sustainability in Dentistry and studying dentistry in Europe.
This is the second time a student from the University of Aberdeen has attended the EDSA meeting, the last being in pre-pandemic 2019 in Berlin.
We look forward to maintaining links with the EDSA, encouraging students to get involved by writing articles for the EDSA magazine or to take part in the lecture competitions.
