A Clinical Research Training Fellowship has been awarded by the British Heart Foundation to Karolin Hijazi and Dana Dawson.
Karolin Hijazi and Dana Dawson are Principal investigators for the project entitled ‘Epigenetic phase variation of periodontal bacteria – a mechanistic contributor to coronary artery disease’. The project seeks to discover epigenetic mechanisms which drive the transition an oral bug from a harmless state to one causing atherosclerosis.
This is the latest of a series of successes that have stemmed from the Cardio-Dentistry collaboration established in 2016.
