This year’s Annual NHSG R&D Conference was held on Tuesday 29th October at Suttie Centre. The 2019 conference theme was ‘Collaborative Working for Research Excellence’ and we are delighted to report that the Institute of Dentistry’s Dr Rasha Abu Eid was announced the winner of the prize for the Best Oral Presentation.
Dr Abu Eid, in collaboration with Dr Karolin Hijazi and Dr Frank Ward, had successfully secured an NHS endowment grant last year. Their project was chosen for an oral presentation during the conference.
The title of the presentation was “Characterisation of the microscopic and immune profiles of oral potentially malignant disorders”. Dr Abu Eid’s talk showcased some of the interesting and novel findings of the project and highlighted the work achieved by the group.
This important project is still ongoing, and the three investigators together with Ms. Prarthna Clare, a second year PhD student at the Institute of Dentistry are working to take this research forward.
The prize was announced and presented by Professor Phyo Myint in the presence of Professor Maggie Cruickshank, Director of NHS Grampian Research and Development.
