Drop into the Sir Duncan Rice Library on Doors Open Day and explore the Library from TOP to BOTTOM. Open to all!
Ground Floor
- Take in the stunning atrium view before heading to the Old Aberdeen Library - the library within a library. Come along and see what they have to offer at Aberdeen City Libraries. Lots of family fun! There will be a Bookbug session at 10.30. Booking for this opens 7 days in advance using this LINK. You can also learn how to create your own animation in the afternoon.
- Visit the Museums & Special Collections Gallery which is currently showing the University's acclaimed exhibition ‘Legacies of Slavery: Transatlantic Slavery and Aberdeen’ which explores the North-East’s links to the slave trade.
Going Up!
- Take the great glass elevators to the 7th Floor and enjoy the best panoramic view of Aberdeen and have a go at some of our skyline activities.
Going Down!
Collections Close Up: Atlases and maps from Special Collections 10:30 to 12:00
- Head down to the lower ground floor between 10:30-12:00 for a rare treat. The Special Collections team will be showing a selection of some of its rare and beautiful atlases and maps. No need to book, just drop-in on the day.
A note on parking:
The car park next to the Library will be free and open to any visitor (not just staff and students) on Saturday 2nd September. Blue Badge parking is available. AccessAble
