Get a taste of what the Museums & Special Collections have to offer! Come and find us at Live on the Lawn on Friday 24th March. We'll be showing one of the smallest books in the collections and doing a tiny activity!
The Special Collections includes over 230,000 rare books and in amongst them are some little gems including this tiny cookery book. It’s packed with delicious recipes and illustrations. Come and take a look. You'll find us in the Far Linklater Rooms, Elphinstone Hall.
A palm-sized recipe book for Live on the Lawn!
This 50-page Handbook of Practical Cookery measures 5.5cm tall by 4.7cm wide. It was written by Matilda Lees Dods and published in 1906.
HAVE A GO!
We’ll have some recipes for you to take home and try, and whilst you are at our stall, have a go at making your own thumbnail-sized folded book.
And if you are interested in more historic recipe books from the collection, visit our Historic Bake Off Activity Page
