Biography: Son of William Benton; born Forres, 21 January 1893. Science, 1911-12. Mobilized, 4th Gordon Highlanders (T.F.), August 1914; Signal Service, Royal Engineers; commissioned, Royal Engineers, May 1915. Served - France, February 1915-April 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
