Biography: Son of David and Helen Murray (nee Coull), Reidhaven Street, Buckie ; born Buckie, 1916 ; educated at Buckie High School. He was a prominent footballer at the University where he graduated M.A. in 1936. He later became an assistant teacher of Mathematics at Banff Academy. Early in 1941 he joined the Seaforth Highlanders, but afterwards volunteered for the Royal Air Force and was sent to South Africa to train as a Navigator. Returning to this country he lost his life on his first operational flight over Berlin on 2 January 1944.
