Moir, John Manwaring Steward

Biography: Son of the Rev. George Kynoch Moir and Hilda Margaret Moir, St. John's Church, New Pitsligo ; born New Zealand, 16 December 1922 ; educated in New Zealand and at Aberdeen Grammar School. He matriculated in Science at the University in 1940. As soon as he was eighteen he joined the Royal Air Force and trained as a gunner. He was sent to North Africa where on 26 September 1942 he lost his life when a bomber on which he was rear-gunner failed to return from a raid on Tobruk.
