Forsyth, Archibald Newlands

Biography: Son of Alexander and Jessie Forsyth, West Mount Street, Aberdeen; born Aberdeen, 1 September 1898 ; educated at Robert Gordon's College. In 1915 he began the medical course at the University, but joined up in the first world war and served with the Royal Field Artillery. In 1926 he graduated M.B., Ch.B., and entered the Royal Navy. He was promoted to Surgeon Commander in 1940, and granted the right to wear the Insignia of the Order of Maritime Merit conferred on him by France for his services to survivors of a wrecked ship. Later in the course of the war he was reported missing and presumed killed.
