Forbes, Ian Davidson

Biography: Son of Frank Mathieson Forbes and Elspet Forbes, Stanley Street, Aberdeen; born Aberdeen, 1923; educated at Robert Gordon's College where he distinguished himself as a swimmer. He studied Law at the University, and was an apprentice with Messrs. Sinclair and Forbes, advocates, when he came of age for military service. Trained at Sandhurst Military College, he was commissioned with the 2nd Fife and Forfar Yeomanry. He was killed by enemy bombing during a spell of bitter fighting in Normandy on 18 July 1944.
