Chisholm, William

Biography: Son of Alexander and Mary Chisholm, Nairn ; born Findhorn, 24 May 1899 ; educated at Forres and Fordyce Academy. During the first world war he served for two years in the Seaforth Highlanders. In 1924 he graduated M.B., Ch.B. For some time he was a ship's surgeon and then took a government post on the Gold Coast. In 1938 he entered the service of the Blue Funnel Line as a medical officer. He gave his life in an attempt to save a senior officer when his ship was torpedoed on 27 October 1942. He was posthumously awarded the Albert Medal.
