- Learned antiquary. Resided at Cevnybraich and Ty Newydd, Llansilin, Wales. Was making copies of Welsh poetry by 1638, assiduous transcriber. Best-read Welsh antiquary of his generation. Produced a compilation of Welsh law and a chronicle of events in north Wales from 1638-47. Died 1680. His manuscript collection was bought by Sir William Williams, and the greater part of it was destroyed in a fire in 1858, fewer than ten survived. A few remain in other collections, as well as a number of his printed books.
